The God of Magazines loves me. He really does.

So, yesterday I'm at the drug store picking up my prescription, and it turned out that I had to wait a little while. So I was standing at the counter with my little pile of various gums and candies, and after about five minutes, my eyes strolled to the magazine rack. I thought about buying another crossword book, but decided against it A) because I've boughten two in the past month, and because I had to pay my tuition today. Then, as luck (or the God of Magazines) would have it, two familiar bright yellow letters caught my eye, and before anyone knew it, I ran to the rack and grabbed the magazine as quickly as possible.

It was, of course, the March issue of Nylon, my all time favorite magazine. I might add that the odds of finding NYLON in a small drug store in Morris are none to negative, so when the lemon yellow N and Y caught my eye, I had to act quickly!! I bought it.

And who was on the cover but, one of Mlle Collette's (she's me) favorite actresses: Kirsten Dunst!!!

I love Kirsten Dunst. She's great. And funny. And smart, or so it seems.

And let me tell you, even though I've only read a tiny snippet of the article, the God of Magazines HAS NOT LET ME DOWN!!! Not only does she look like a cross between Mia Farrow and Anne Heche in the pictures (gorgeous new hair cut) there was an awesome bit of it that just killed me.

"The Virgin Suicides can literally make your chest hurt---there is nothing at once more beautiful and heartbreaking than seeing Dunst riding home the morning after losing her virginity on the high-school football field; as she gazes out the taxi window and chews on her homecoming crown, her face reveals the horror of her pending punishment, as well as the mixed emotions of having been loved--and abandoned--by the quarterback heartthrob.

'That's a movie that, if I saw it and I wasn't in it, I would be so bummed,' she says. 'I just loved that movie. Loved it. It spoke the truth to me. Of all the movies I've done, that was the one I really enjoyed as a viewer.'" (Nylon March Issue, pg 188, by Shelly Ridenour)

Me too. Virgin Suicides kills me, it really does. Great book, great movie because it wasn't ever really Hollywood-ized. I mean, it seems real. Not glitterated.

Thank you God of Magazines for not disappointing me!!!

~Mlle Collette
